- Just to calm things down... I hope that people realize that the president, no matter who he is, does not have voodoo magic over the economy. It's a capitalist economy; people live above their means for awhile, and then they have to live below them, especially in American capitlism. Why does everyone keep judging presidents based on economic cycles? Being poor makes you unhappy, but there are plenty of people to blame before you get to the president, as symbolic as he is, especially since our economy has had flaws for decades and the president has only been there a couple of years. If you want to blame a policy... unfortunately it was obviously deregulation of the financial system to the point that there was no incentive not to be fraudulent and rip people off. There can be no consumer or investor confidence in such a system.

- Where is that missing 162 million dollars of stimulus money? Obama swore we could follow where all the money went on a govt run website, yet that site can't account for 162 million dollars. Gee, makes ya kinda wonder if any of that cash ended up being used for the avalanche of Democratic ads now being played?

- "A job is not a God-given American right." Those are the sacred words of Carly Fiorina, the Republican candidate for the US Senate, the former CEO of Hewlitt Packard. Before she got fired for tanking HP, Fiorina off-shored thousands of jobs. She also gave herself a $ 100,000,000 severance pay. The Republicans want to keep all their tax cuts - and they want to off-shore American jobs. They want to eliminate minimum-wage laws and unemployment insurance. They want to expand H-IB programs to import workers from overseas. Employers will fire American workers to get cheaper employees. On the other hand, Obama has just passed another small business jobs bill. The Los Angeles Times Business section just posted an article about the increased number of jobs. The Dept of interior just okayed a massive solar power plant in the Mojave Desert which will bring new green energy jobs to California. In spite of Republican obstruction, Obama closed some of the more serious loopholes that give tax incentives for companies who off-shore jobs. Every Republican in Congress opposed that action. He has proposed new tax breaks for businesses who buy equipment now. He wants a permanent research and develop tax break to promote innovation. He also wants to upgrade our roads, rails and runways because the ARRA does not completely fix up our crumbling infrastructure (which the Republicans neglected during their tenure.) The Democrats are also proposing Advanced Energy tax Credits, a Green Job Act, IMPACT, and a Make it in America bill. (Source: USW@Work) Let's face it. - sorry, but I agree with Fiorina that a "job is not a God-given right". A job is an opportunity to prove what you can do for a company or organization. If you think that just because someone is "born" they are entitled to a job, you are a moron and shouldn't be hired by anybody.

- Obama has done a great job as compared to his predecessor. All the Democrats have a job now. Republicans are S.O.L.
- For those few who still defend Obama's policies: Please explain why you believe that Obama's "redistributing the wealth" (Communism) will make America more competitive in the world market, and make Americans more productive and wealthy than the free-market (Capitalism). If you can't explain your belief, and convince others of its merits - then maybe it is time for you to abandon it.

- Well, you are probably confused with propaganda americans are being shelled with. Try using the words "Trickle down economy" in place of "redistributing the wealth". That should solve your issue.
- Didn't President Obama say to Joe the Plumber that "spreading the wealth around is good for everybody" Is that propaganda? I don't think so. The truth is obvious for all to see, at least for the ones with half a brain.
- Easy...just look up communism in an encyclopedia and you'll see that even with "redistributing the weatlh", we fall short of what communism really is. The truth is America's economic system is more of a mixed economy than a free market/capitalist one anyway. In fact, no where in this world does there exist a "true capitalist economy". Just look around you...we have a combination of both public and private companies and industries. No one calls it communism, when you go to the post office and mail a letter halfway across the country for only 44 cents. You don't call it communism, when your children are afforded the luxury of receiving a primary, secondary, and elementary education for free through our public system. Nor do you call it communism, when you see the DPW picking up your garbage every morning. How about law enforcement and the fire department? Those are all socialist programs... But the second you start talking about raising taxes on the rich to level the playing field for the middle class, adding much needed tax revenue, and decreasing the income gap b/w the rich and working class...all of the sudden people like you want to cry communism/socialism. Half of you don't even know the difference b/w communism and socialism...you use both words interchangably, yet you seem to have no problem using the both words to describe our President and his policies. Unless you make over $250k/year...you need to stop listening to what the rich people on tv are telling you and start looking out for your own interests. We live in a country where the rich get richer, while the poor are left to fend for themselves...the problem is, those of you with a little extra change in your pockets imagine yourselves to be rich. $100k/yr is nothing compared to the Forbes' and Buffett's of America...they spend that in a year just to heat up their homes and offices. Obama's not trying to take money away from you, he's trying to take money from your boss, who gets paid handsomely in bonuses and salary to work you like a slave. Then again, most Americans have a slave mentality...you defend the interests of your own masters before you look out for your own. Because master's the one who writes your checks and puts food on your table, master gives you time off when you ask for it, and master was the one who gave you the chance to work for him so you could take care of yourself and your family. In communism, everything belongs to the gov't...in socialism everything belongs to the people...and in capitalism, everything belongs to whoever owns and/or purchased it.

It is the very people who stole your money who will have to spend some before the economy turns around. Maybe before polling people on Obama's job performance the news services should educate the people on what really happened. - Ken, I've had those pollsters that want to "educate" me, and quite frankly, they just hack me off. Most of them are pushing some liberal talking point (although I have gotten maybe a third as many pushing conservative points) and their tactict is usually the same: First they ask a question with a loaded presupposition that they want you to buy into. If you are *smart* enough to see that you must accept a presupposition that is not something you may think is valid and reuse to answer their question, they will berate you for not accepting the "obvious" and I've even had some call me names. I am sorry, but for the most part their logic is weak, and they have drunk so much of the koolaid they are trying to push (and I hope they are not opperating within 100 yards of a grade school -- most localities make pushing an even *worse* crime in those cases) that they lack the intellectual prowess to punch their way out of a wet paper bag. If it were not so infuriating, it would just plain be sad... ;'{P~~~
- I wouldn't be blaming President Obama, its' the obstructionists in Congress that have failed our country. I would go further to say, Its' not the President that has failed in dealing with the economy....its' the failing economy he has to deal with. This President did manage to take the country away from the brink of a DEPRESSION, which by the way actually already existed in parts of the midwest. Honestly, Do you expect magic from him? With all the foreign interests aiming at sucking out the money from our treasury, and peoples....He did great. He ran on change...Healthcare has been reformed. Wall Street has new laws and requirements now wih finance reform as well. This President had to deal with the BP oil spill at the worst of times and it looks like we are getting lucky there as well....all in 2 years. He fought to protect the unemployed by extending their insurance, against GOP arguments who claim to represent the people whereas they only represent the greedy. Wake up people. Dont' blame this President, this started long ago with Nixon, Reagan and finally the worst president of all BUSH. We've had to live through the corruption of the Bush administration along with the terror threats of Islam. I can't say we are going to be successful in regaining our position in the world as a producer instead of an imperial corporate oligarchy of fascism which Bush was so willing to dirty his hands with.

Here's an example, I live near San Francisco, In 1989 we had a major earthquake that has condemned the Bay Bridge...Here we are almost 22 years later, and the bridge is still not built, yet we're told that it's on schedule....I find it hard to believe that both major bridges here were built in 3 1/2 years and its taking 25 years to build 1/2 a bridge....the costs are enoromous and way over what the public was told it was going to cost. We're told it employs 100,000 people, what we weren't told is that it was being built in China and fitted by only a handful of Americans. This is an embarrassment to me as I am a proud American, and insulted by this fact. I'd feel more comfortable sending money to Alaska to build that bridge to nowhere, I'm sure it would have been there by now. The fact is we don't have the factories here anymore.

- Friends and neighbors. I went to bid a job yesterday and was walking through the plant with the owner. He was pointing out all the work they had backing up. They are holding out on hiring until after the election. This guy still hangs on to republican ideology even though about 2 years ago it almost tanked his business. He will have no choice but to hire because he is falling behind. This president and the democrats have done it right. Republican ideology has robbed us all. As a business owner I need lots of customers with cash, not just 1 CEO that makes 16 thousand dollars an hour. We need to throw republicans out of office for the sake of business.

Any deposit you make, or even a transfer within your account, will have a 1% tax charged. If your pay check or your social security or whatever is direct deposit, it will get a 1% tax charged for the transaction. If your paycheck is $1000 then you will pay Obama ten bucks just for the privilege of depositing your pay check in your bank. Even if you hand carry your paycheck or any check in to your bank for a deposit, 1% tax will be charged. You receive a $5,000 stock dividend from your broker, Obama takes 50 bucks just to allow you to deposit that check in the bank. If you take $1,000 cash in to deposit at your bank, 1% tax will be charged. Mind you, this is from the man who promised that if you make under $250,000 per year, you will not see one penny of new tax.
